On the CFO/Channel estimation technique for MIMO-OFDM systems without using a prior knowledge of channel length

چکیده
In this paper, we propose an estimator which jointly estimates the carrier frequency offset (CFO) and channel state without a prior knowledge of channel length (CL) for a multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing system. A preliminary CFO/channel estimate is first reached based on the maximum-likelihood criterion. To improve the over-determined problem, a CL estimation technique is further developed. The first-order Taylor series expansion approach is used to determine the trimmed CFO estimate such that the exhaustive point search can be avoided. Simulation results have been presented to demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides a performance comparable to that of the optimal estimation which assumes that CL is known in advance.

Channel Estimation and CFO Compensation in OFDM System Using Adaptive Filters in Wavelet Transform Domain
Abstarct In this paper, combination of channel, receiver frequency-dependent IQ imbalance and carrier frequency offset estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) length are considered in OFDM system. An adaptive algorithm based on the set-membership filtering (SMF) algorithm is used to compensate for these impairments. In short CP length, per-tone equalization (PTEQ) structure is used to avoid i...
متن کاملPreamble Based Channel and CFO Estimation for MIMO-OFDM Systems with Null Subcarriers
In this paper, challenges regarding the provision of channel state information (CSI) and carrier frequency synchronization for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with null subcarriers are addressed. We propose novel maximum likelihood (ML) based schemes that estimate the aggregate effects of the CFO and channel by using two successive OFDM preambles. In the presented sche...

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) plays an important role in the implementation of high data rate communication. In this thesis, the problems of data detection and channel and carrier frequency offset estimation in OFDM systems are studied. Multi-symbol non-coherent data detection is studied which performs data detection by processing multiple symbols without the knowledge of th...

متن کاملSynchronization and Channel Estimation in Massive MIMO Systems
Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is a strong candidate for the fifth generation (5G) communications system for its high data rate and link reliability. Combining the massive MIMO with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique will increase the robustness of the system against the delay spread in the multipath channel. However, OFDM systems are sensitive to frequen...
